Foundation

Service for Sight has been at the heart of Delta Gamma’s philanthropic mission since 1936. The Delta Gamma Foundation has given over $2,700,000 in Service for Sight grants to organizations and schools that share the Foundation’s mission: to promote sight preservation and assistance to children and adults who are blind or visually impaired. Want to give back? Get involved!

*Foundation Challenge*

For those who like a challenge, now is your chance to do good… In the upcoming year, all DC Alumnae are being challenged to volunteer at least two or more hours toward Service for Sight and/or assisting Senior Citizens at places such as retirement or religious centers. The member performing the most service hours throughout the year will be recognized at Founders Day. There are service opportunities to fit every personality and schedule. If you have any questions or need additional suggestions, contact Erin at vpfoundation@deltagamma.org.

Fundraising

WDC Delta Gammas raise funds for the Delta Gamma Foundation and local charity the Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind. During the annual Holiday Tea we collect donations that are used to purchase toys for children with visual impairments and handed out at CLB’s annual Children’s Holiday Party. In the springtime we host the annual Spring Fling all-Greek mixer and philanthropic fundraiser to benefit the Delta Gamma Foundation and donate the proceeds to the Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind.

Save and donate those Labels, Box Tops and Eyeglasses!!!

By collecting labels and box tops from the everyday products we all use is an easy way to bring much needed equipment to children who are blind or visually impaired. WDC DG collects labels for the Delta Gamma Foundation and donates the proceeds from the collection of Box Tops for Education to the Maryland School for the Blind.

Campbell’s Labels for Education can be found on all Campbell’s Soup Labels, Pepperidge Farm (including Goldfish, Crackers), Swanson, V8 Beverages, Prego. A list of all eligible products can be found at: http://www.labelsforeducation.com

General Mills Box Tops for Education can be found on Betty Crocker and Pillsbury items, along with Ziploc/Hefty, Kleenex products, and many cereals, like Cheerios. A complete list is available at: http://www.boxtops4education.com

Another way to contribute is by donating your no longer used eye-glasses/sunglasses to be recycled and reused by those in need. We send the used glasses collected to the Lions Club to be redistributed to underprivileged people who can use them.

*Labels, Box Tops and Glasses can be brought to any Alumnae event and given to any Board Member/SIG Coordinator or arrangements can be made to mail them to VP: Foundation at vpfoundation@deltagamma.org.
